This week I have been working on the cardboard tree. It has been taking longer than I had expected and I have been having trouble cutting out the leaves. When I began cutting I was hoping to leave the tree/ circle on the wavy level of the cardboard and the recycling sign on the last level. The cardboard had different plans... Now the tree is on the the last level and the recycling sign is cut all the way through. This has really made me frustrated and I was almost tempted to start over, but I continued and found it gave it a distressed look.
I also glazed my clay tile that I had done the first week of the semester, I find myself really happy with my tile. I made a tree trunk and used an underglaze to give a darker and distress look, and then I used a dark brown and clear glaze on top of it. I had to touch the glaze up after the first time in the kiln because I had missed a spot when using the brown glaze.
