As I had mentioned last week I have been glazing my two trays this week. I thought I would immediately get the trays and glaze, but no that wasn't the case... When I got the two trays I had noticed major grey/white spots and needed to paint another layer of underglaze and fire them again. They didn't come out perfect the second time but all that was need was a little touch up with underglaze they didn't even need to be fired again. I then needed to actually glaze the tray, not just underglaze, and get them done quickly before Mrs. Sudkamp started the glaze kiln. I glazed the feather one clear, and the elephant one a pink ombré. This was my first try on ombré and I feel like it is going to be successful. I then put the trays in the kiln for the glaze fire. During this whole week I had time to also work on bowls, while my trays were being fired. I sat them in molds and next week I will shape the sides the way I want. These bowls are for the empty bowl project. I forgot to take pictures of these items before I put them in the kiln, therefore no images for this blog.
